- Standing up quickly from a chair.
- Getting up quickly from lying down.
- Low blood pressure.
- High blood pressure.
- Medication side effects.
- Inner ear problems.
- Poor eating habits.
What You Can Do
- Discuss your symptoms with your family physician. Your symptoms may warrant a referral to an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist.
- Sit on the side of the bed for a few minutes before you stand up.
- After standing, pause and take one slow deep breath before you take a step.
- Have your blood pressure checked regularly.
- Tell your doctor if your medication is making you drowsy or dizzy.
- Do not go any longer than four hours without eating during the day.

- Ask your family physician about having your blood pressure checked.
- PCCC Physiotherapy Outpatient Services has a Vestibular Rehabilitation Program. Discuss with your doctor whether a referral might be appropriate. It may be necessary to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist first and then be referred to this program.
